This establishment is an excellent example of what every fish store should look like. While it mainly specializes in African cichlids, there are also a few other species available, mainly types of synodontis and plecostomus. You can also order other species. The store was clean, the water clarity pristine and the tanks were clean as well. The quality of the fish available was superior. The store owner advocated responsible fish husbandry and fish keeping and was full of helpful advice.

Fish Freaks is by far the cleanest and well stocked fish store I’ve ever been to. The only fish store that has Wild Caught fish In Stock and very reasonable prices. The quality of the fish and supplies was outstanding. Superior prices, healthy fish, clean tanks, and everything I need in stock, are just some of the reasons I will continue to buy from Fish Freaks in Omaha. My hats off to the owner!

My family and I visited this store on a trip to Omaha recently. What a treat! Immaculately clean tanks water and store. This, of course, also meant that the livestock was super healthy and of top quality. This place carries mostly cichlids and is a MANDATORY stop for any african cichlid enthusiast anywhere near the area. Come here or visit the web site for all of the specialized equipment, supplies and food and SERVICE that you cannot get at any chain store. Mike, the owner, was very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. I love the fish I got last fall and will be ordering more stuff in the very near future. Check them out! You wont be sorry.

I just have to say… if you love cichlids and you haven’t been there, you HAVE to go. I just went to see some deals on tanks they having but thye have THE clearest, cleanest tanks i have seen for a while at a fish store. Great freshwater store!
1+ on the cleanliness. With as many tank as he has there, they are all about spotless. Wish other store owners would take the time to go see how a fish store should look. With the exception of Ruff (which is also a very clean store), the rest could use some serious help with tank cleanliness.
I have got to add this piece of info as well. I bought a 210 and the stand from Mike and have been very happy with how I was treated. This brings me to ectual point of this post. I was in another local store that I shall not name about a week ago and had the owner tell me with a straight face that he could have gotten me the tank cheaper than Mike did.
Here is my thoughts on that. If he could do this, why did he not put a post out here and try to get some of the business that Mike clearly got from us members here. I will answer this with what I think is the answer. GREED. He had the nerve to say this to me when he had no intention of making the effort to do anything like this for the reef community. I have a real problem with that. If he had the chance to get these tanks at the same price, why not do something for the reef community who supports his store. He obviosuly chose not to. Not like he has that many tanks sitting about his store that he could not have just held onto those until the sale went off. Nope, that would have been too much like giving back to us. Sad really. So I will say thanks again to Mike for letting those of us looking for new tanks get in on some great deals.
I will send everyone I know looking for the kinds of things he sells to his store.
I can add to that! I have not met mike, nor have i been to his store, but when i made a post that i was wanting to do an ATO and a refugium and may need a tank, he sent me a nice PM letting me know he could order me exactly what i wanted at an excellent price… I’d be surprised if the cost he quoted me wasnt the cost of it itself! He was not pushy and ruthless like a certain lfs, but helpful and curtious. I honestly can’t wait till i can see his shop and shake his hand!

I will never buy a factory built tank from anyone else again as long as he is in business. All I can say is it is a good thing he is not interested in doing any saltwater stuff or, with pne exception, everyone else in saltwater end of the business in this area would have to worry big time.
